Ford Unveils Mustang Electric Vehicle

The Ford Mustang Mach-E not only marks the brand’s entrance into the electric world but is also the first new Mustang that the manufacturer added to its lineup in 55 years. Unlike its predecessors, the Mach-E is not a sports car; rather, it is an SUV and is a far cry from the Mustang’s image of a “muscle car.”

Ford has planned for two versions of the Mach-E. The first will produce 332 horsepower and 417 lb of torque. The Mustang Mach-E GT, on the other hand, will be a high-performance version of the same, producing 459 horsepower and featuring an acceleration of 0-to-60 in under four seconds.

Both versions of this Mustang SUV will have:

A range of 300 miles with one charge.

Rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive options. With the latter limiting the battery life.

Three driving modes: Whisper, Engage and Unbridled. Each with different display, sound and steering control features.

If you do not like the silence of an electric vehicle, the Mach-E models support features that simulate the experience of driving in a sports car.

Externally, these cars will have some features synonymous with traditional Mustangs including the:

Elongated hood

Tri-bar tail lights

Aggressive headlights

The inside of these vehicles has been completely reinvented from the traditional Mustang. The dials and switches have been replaced by a touchscreen, in portrait orientation which is 15.5 inches long. The lithium-ion batteries in these models will either be 75.5 kilowatts or 98.8 kilowatts. Every model of the Ford Mustang Mach-E will come with a home charger that’s compatible with both a 120-volt and 240-volt outlet.

The front trunk has been equipped with a drainable storage unit for drinks and ice. In addition to this, the door handles have been switched out for buttons.

The Mach-E has an initial release date of late 2020 but is already available for a pre-order. Additionally, the GT will be made available in the spring of 2021.
